Jo Huntsinger Jo Huntsinger, who started as a player at Lawrence for legendary coach Joan Wells and was a 3-time state champion from 1975-1977, starting and being named captain her junior and senior years. She was also a state champion in softball her junior year. Jo went on to play volleyball at KU for 3 years before returning to Lawrence High as the varsity volleyball assistant for 16 seasons, with 9 of those ending as state champions. When Coach Wells retired, Jo became the head coach and coached for 7 seasons, where her team placed 2nd at the state tournament in 2004.
